A first edition, in a printing strictly limited to 100 copies, individually numbered, and signed by both the translator and the artist, and 26 copies designated as artist's proofs.

Each volume includes eight original etchings by Andrew Stevovich, individually hand-printed in the Center Street Studio of James Stroud and bound with the text.

Howard Gralla, the book's designer; its printer, Michael Bixler, and its binder, Jim DiMarcantonio, have long been recognized in their respective fields of typography, limited-edition printing and the binding of fine volumes.

This spectacular volume is an art object in itself.

  Publication Specifications

  Pages are folio-sized (14" x 10") Rives BFK archival paper, folded, correlated and stabbed
  by hand, with sewn linen tapes supporting the endpapers.

  Covers are of double-laminated boards with sanded edges and corners, cloth-wrapped. Cloth-
  wrapped slip cases have 3/16" wood sides with board dividing walls and additional, third walls
  to house the compact disc recordings of the fables that accompany the books.
